Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has seemed to suggest that any speculation regarding a move to Manchester United can be dismissed in an appearance on French television. The World Cup winner has been linked with the switch to Old Trafford amid uncertainty over his contract in Catalonia, where he moved after leaving Lyon in 2016. Barca have been strongly linked with a move for the Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, a switch which would only heighten the uncertainty over Umtiti's position as a guaranteed starter at the Nou Camp. But - as reported by Sport - Umtiti seemed adamant about his position at the club in an interview on French programme Telefoot. In a segment of the show in which 1998 World Cup winner Bixente Lizarazu put questions to Umtiti and Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud to which they were only allowed to give one-word answers or play 'a joker' and refuse to answer, Umtiti was asked if he'd renew his contract and stay at Barca next season. He immediately answered "yes". Sport also note that when taking part in the programme last year and facing the same question, Umtiti played his joker card and refused to answer. On this occasion, he used his joker card when asked if Barca were lucky to beat his former team Lyon in the Champions League earlier this month.
