The pair have become two of the mostly highly sought after stars in world football this season. Benfica are one of the best operators in Europe for developing talent and selling them on for huge profits. The likes of David Luiz, Angel Di Maria, Nemanja Matic, Jan Oblak and Renato Sanches have all been on their books in years gone by. Manchester United remain keen on adding a centre-back to their squad this summer and it’s likely that the position will be the priority when the transfer window opens. Benfica’s Ruben Dias has been scouted by a number of big clubs this season including Juventus and the defender is now being linked with a switch to Old Trafford. Attacking midfielder Joao Felix has also made a real name for himself in the Primeira Liga, where he has registered eight goals and four assists this season in 15 outings. According to Portuguese newspaper Record, United are willing to activate both player’s release clauses for a combined £154m. One thing that could encourage United to complete a deal for Dias is the form of Victor Lindelof. United have a good relationship with the Portuguese club from when they bought the Sweden international in 2017. Now Lindelof has become one of the first names on the team sheet after a difficult start to life in the Premier League. Dias has already been capped by Portugal six times, despite being just 21-years-old. The report states that United are not the only club willing to pay up to Benfica, Juventus are also ready to break the bank. Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira recently reaffirmed that his side will not sell their most valuable players for anything less than their release clauses. “Each day, the club is more solid and robust, more and more autonomous. Today we no longer have to make ineligible sales to balance our accounts," he told Benfica’s official newspaper. “I reaffirm that we have no objective to sell our main players who have now arrived from Seixal. With each passing day, these young talents are more valued and prove the good vision, direction and strategy we had. “As a first step, the need to overcome financial constraints has led to the need to make and take advantage of some sales opportunities. Today, only legal requirements defined by the clauses of sales clauses can lead us to this.”
