I want to show some ideas of what you can do with the basic 8-triangle pattern, achieved by bisecting a sphere in three directions, along the x, y and z axis. It's a logical way to divide a sphere, and offers opportunity for infinite variations. This pattern is found in museum collections of very old singlade balls in Scandinavia, and is the classic starting point for those learning the craft. Most of the balls in this video are my own. There are two "kitty" balls, made after a pattern by Agnes Lo Ericksson--the black and white, and orange and white, with the pink triangles, representing a cat's little pink nose. The two after that are balls that were gifts to me from makers in Sweden.ballsy Basic 8 - theme and variations | |
