That’s according to Spanish journalist Lluis Mascaro, who believes enough is enough after his latest underwhelming display against Real Madrid. The Brazilian struggled to make an impact in El Clasico, and with his performances constantly under the microscope his future in Catalonia continues to remain a doubt. Having joined for £142million from Liverpool just over a year ago, the Blaugrana are starting to wonder why they splashed out so much for the midfielder. Barcelona drew the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final 1-1 with Real Madrid and it was another Brazilian who impressed most. Malcom looked destined for the exit door in January but has been given another chance under Ernesto Valverde and he netted the equaliser on Wednesday night with a clinical finish. And for Mascaro, Coutinho’s poor performance sent him over the edge, suggesting that he should now be sold. “Coutinho has been at Barca for more than a year now and his performance has gone from more to less. Getting worse,” he wrote in AS. “And that is unjustifiable in a player who has cost 150 million euros. “If it's the most expensive signing in club history! Neither the support of Messi, nor the 'therapy' of Valverde, nor the advice of Bartomeu ... nothing has served to recover this player who, against Madrid, culminated his disastrous career. “It has no excuse. No pardon. Either you react or you have to find an immediate exit in June. Before it ends up being unsaleable…” Coutinho had been linked for a shock return to the Premier League to Manchester United in January. Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has ruled out the sale of the 26-year-old. “He is very young and we expect a lot from him,” he said. “We do not want to sell Coutinho.” Coutinho has managed just four goals in 20 La Liga matches this season. In just the second half of the last campaign, he managed eight goals in 18 matches.
