David de Gea is renowned as one of Europe's top goalkeepers. He's been a Manchester United player since 2011 and has bailed them out time and time again over the last eight seasons. In more recent years, he's been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. Back in the summer of 2015, he was close to moving back to Spain in a deal worth just £29 million - but it fell through as the paperwork wasn't submitted before the transfer window closed. It looked like Madrid's interest in De Gea finally ended last August when they signed Chelsea's former number one Thibaut Courtois for £35 million. But things haven't exactly gone to plan for Courtois. He's been heavily criticised for his performances in what's been a very poor season for Los Blancos. And after Zinedine Zidane's returned last week, Courtois was dropped for Saturday's match against Celta Vigo, with the Frenchman preferring Keylor Navas between the sticks. That's not great news for the Belgian shot-stopper and it could also spell trouble for Man United too. According to the Mirror, Zidane isn't convinced that Courtois is the right man for the job and now he's returned to Madrid, he will re-ignite the club's interest in De Gea. Real's president Florentino Perez has promised his returning coach around £300 million to spend on a squad re-build this summer and it's believed that £75 million will be put aside for De Gea. With the keeper continuing to stall on a new contract at Old Trafford, he could finally end up swapping Manchester for Madrid next summer if Zidane gets his wish.
