Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has lifted the lid on the raucous celebrations inside the dressing room after the Red Devils’ stunning Champions League win over PSG. United turned around a first-leg deficit to win 3-1 in Paris, going through on away goals, with Marcus Rashford’s stoppage-time penalty sparking wild scenes of jubilation on the pitch and in the away end. Afterwards, Sir Alex Ferguson and Eric Cantona made their way down to the dressing room to join in, and Smalling revealed the legendary United duo had a few words of congratulations for the players. ‘I think moments like that you’ve just got to savour and take in. And obviously seeing Eric in the changing room, Sir Alex as well, you could just tell everyone was together,’ Smalling said on Soccer AM. Asked if Sir Alex joined in the dancing, he continued: ‘He wasn’t quite dabbing! Maybe he’ll save that for if we get to the final. ‘But no it was great just to see everyone come together, all the board, the owners, obviously seeing Eric come through and everyone was singing his name. ‘It was just a really good vibe in the whole changing room.’ On whether they gave a speech to the players, Smalling added: ‘There wasn’t really too much said, I think Sir Alex came round, shook everyone’s hand and said congratulations. ‘Eric said a little bit actually, I think congratulations and just that he was proud to watch the team play and win like that. But generally just good, happy vibes. ‘I think going there you’ve got dreams and hopes to be able to turn it around, but to do it in the way that we did, I think in the last minute, there’s just no better way to go through.’
