Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Madrid with Juventus on Wednesday night, making his first return to the city since leaving Real Madrid in a £15million transfer back in the summer. It was to be a nightmare night for the 34-year-old, however, with goals from Diego Godin and Jose Giminez giving Atletico a first leg Champions League lead. After the game, a frustrated Ronaldo held up his hand in the mix zone to represent the five Champions League titles he has won throughout his career. In 28, he landed the prize with Manchester United. And he won four European crowns in five years towards the tail end of his time at Real. Ronaldo’s gesture has not sat well with Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo, who has now taken aim at the forward. He told Radio CRC: “A small clarification is that Cristiano Ronaldo has not won five Champions Leagues at all, but only three. “The remaining two against Atletico, he did not really win them. “Who won those two finals? I will tell you in the next interview.” Trending Ronaldo was not the only one whose gesture has raised eyebrows throughout the footballing world. Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has also caused a stir. The Argentine was seen grabbing his crotch after the game, and later defended it by saying: "I did it as a player in Lazio-Bologna and I did it again to show our fans that we have cojones. "It wasn't aimed at the other team, I was turning towards our own supporters. "It's not a nice gesture, I'll admit, but I felt the need to do it. It was such a tough game, we fought so hard and Diego Costa worked really hard when he wasn't 1 per cent fit. I had to show what I was feeling. "I can only apologise if anyone was offended, but I did it from the heart." And Cerezo added: “It was a great match, despite the result being a little tight. “His [Simeone’s] gesture was due to a moment of great tension, I understand and do not condemn him.”
